Oakland University student launches ‘Caring with Keys’ to bring live music to senior living communities

There’s something truly special about live music. It has a unique way of bringing people together, sparking cherished memories, and transforming everyday moments into something meaningful. 🎶

That spirit is at the heart of Caring with Keys, a program created by Christian Cummings, an Oakland University student who is using his passion for piano to make a difference. Through live performances in senior living communities, Christian is creating opportunities for connection, reflection, and joy—one song at a time.

The program’s first performances were held at Waltonwood University, where residents experienced the magic of live music firsthand. From familiar melodies to heartfelt moments shared together, the impact was immediate and meaningful.

At Waltonwood, creating experiences that foster connection, creativity, and a sense of belonging is part of everyday life. Programs like Caring with Keys beautifully complement that mission, reminding us of the power of music to uplift and inspire.

We are grateful for young leaders like Christian who are using their talents to make a lasting impact in the lives of others.
