Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina, and hosts the second-largest banking center in the United States. Settled in 1755, Charlotte has significant historical importance in the history that brought about the American Revolution. Signed by local leaders in 1775, the Mecklenburg Resolves were some of the first such declarations that eventually resulted in separation from British rule. In addition to its historical attraction, Charlotte hosts several large sporting events and is home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, as well as the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets. Charlotte’s Freedom Park offers 98 acres devoted to a number of athletic activities and play areas for families, numerous walking trails and paths, and Demonstration Gardens. Charlotte also has several golf courses, and food and shopping options for every level of interest.
