Nicknamed the “City of Oaks” because of the trees that are interlaced throughout the city, Raleigh is the second-largest city in North Carolina, and the state’s capital. It is part of the Research Triangle and has a blend between historic and modern architecture, with several smaller communities spread throughout the Raleigh area. The city is a major international touring attraction, and the Red Hat Amphitheater hosts several concerts in the summer months. In 2017, Raleigh was named the fifth-best place to raise a family in the United States, according to Forbes Magazine. The city offers more than 150 recreational locations throughout the city that includes 112 tennis courts and five public lakes.
